Grant Montgomery is an award winning production designer from Scotland. He is best known for establishing the world of 'Peaky Blinders' for which he was nominated twice for BAFTA awards. With over 35 years working in film and television, Grant has designed multiple feature films including the highly acclaimed 'Tolkien', 'The Limehouse Golem', 'Ghost Stories', 'The Secret Garden', which was long-listed for a BAFTA Best Film Production Design Award and most recently, 'The Wonder' for Netflix which garnered him a nomination from the British Independent Film Awards 2022 for Best Production Design. Among his other notable credits are Steven Polikoff's 'Dancing on the edge', the adaptation of Sebastian Faulks 'Birdsong' (BBC/Working Title) and the adaptation of Michel Faber's novel 'The Crimson Petal and the White (BBC) for which he was awarded the Royal Television Society Award for Best Production Design 2011. He was again nominated for an RTS award for 'Gunpowder' for HBO in 2019. He designed Sally Wainright's Brontë biopic, 'To Walk Invisible' and established the lavish world of Jane Austen's last novel, 'Sanditon' in the popular TV series. Grant's love of research, storytelling and history has lead him to lecture in universities in Ireland and across the UK. He has given talks on stage design at Glyneborne Opera Company, introducing the new re-staging of 'Rakes Progress' and he gives yearly seminars on period production design to postgraduate students at York University.
