Lesley Ann Gittings, mainly known professionally in television as Lesley Ann Morgan, trained at Ravensbourne College of Art and Design where she studied television and film production. She joined HTV West as a trainee PA and rose through the ranks from researcher, assistant producer to producer specialising in drama and music shows. During this time she worked on all types of programming including dramas, Robin of Sherwood, network multi camera shoots Question Time, Ghost Train, The Wildscreen Awards and light entertainment specials with Georgie Fame and The Moody Blues. In 1992 she began writing newspaper features for the Western Daily Press as well as television work. She wrote and produced the well-received dramatised documentary, In Defence of the Chocolate Soldier, about a black American GI accused of raping a white woman in wartime Britain. She then joined Available Light Productions where she started writing, directing and producing historical drama-documentaries, Mere Marriage and Hannah More and a drama feature called The Levels, based on Peter Benson's rites of passage novel. Other directing credits include many series of ITV documentaries, such as The Waiting Room, winner of the Guardian Mental Health Survivor award 2002, a number of documentaries fronted by Professor Kathy Sykes and photographer Chris Chapman and a 26 part 'observational' series for the Living Channel entitled, Nurses. She produced several dramas for HTV West, including The Day Granddad Went Blind, A Child in the Forest, based on the best selling novel by Winifred Foley, Mother Me Daughter and Bhangra Heads. Lesley is currently writing and developing drama scripts with a number of companies including Shed Media and is a part time lecturer in Broadcast Media at Bath Spa University.
