Kevin O'Connell began his career as a disc jockey in Buffalo, New York in the 1960s. In the 1970s, he became a weathercaster in that city. In 1982 Pat Sajak, then the meterologist at KNBC in Los Angeles, left to host "Wheel of Fortune" and O'Connell took over as chief meteorologist at KNBC. It was while he was still a meteorologist at KNBC that he hosted the game show _"Go!" (1983)_. In 1985 O'Connell moved to crosstown rival KCBS in Los Angeles, and was replaced at KNBC by Fritz Coleman. O'Connell remained at KCBS, where he was joined anchors such as 'Terry Murphy', 'Dan Miller', and Colleen Williams, ironically a future KNBC anchorwoman. O'Connell returned to Buffalo in 1990, where he remains to this day.
