Marion Townsend married Harold Clinton Marlowe of Draper, Rockingham Co, NC in 1949, 3 years after he got a bag of popcorn released from a vending machine for her. He was a deputy sheriff in Los Angeles, where they lived as she tried to establish a movie career, prior to being 'discovered' by Arthur Godfrey. They remained married at least through Mother's Day, 1951, when they visited his parents for that occasion. Their picture appeared in the newspaper of the local mill (The Mill Whistle).
