Gail Maurice

Gail Maurice holds roles as actor, writer, director and producer in Canadian film and television. She established Assini Productions to develop projects featuring Indigenous female leads. Early in her career she appeared in both independent features and television series, then moved into screenwriting and co-writing projects. Her directorial debut was with short work before expanding to her first feature film as director, Rosie, a development of a prior short. Maurice also translated and performed roles using Cree/Michif, integrating Indigenous language into her screen work. She has received award recognition for screenplay and acting, and her upcoming feature, Blood Lines, follows her trajectory into larger scale direction.
