Rosenberg was raised in Houston, and after graduating from the University of Texas, Austin, began traveling. He worked in London as an estate agent, and hitch-hiked through most of Europe and Asia. Landing in Sydney, Australia with $7, he got a job in a dye factory. Eventually, he was accepted by the 'Writers in Residence' program at the prestigious Australian Film and Television School. Fellow students included: Jane Campion, Alex Proyas, P.J. Hogan and Mark Lewis. Soon after graduation, Phillip Noyce invited him to collaborate on the screenplay, "Heatwave", starring Judy Davis. After several years in the Australian film industry, Rosenberg has now made a home in Los Angeles.
