Amro Salama, an American Citizen, was born in Cairo, Egypt and grew up in Springfield Illinois. The acting bug bit him while in High School at Southeast High School in Springfield. He played Chief Sitting Bull in the musical Annie Get Your Gun and Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls. In the summers of his high school years, he would perform in numerous shows at the Springfield Muni Opera. Amro graduated from Bradley University where he studied civil engineering before making the change to acting for the stage. He performed in numerous plays as an undergrad, from Shakespeare to Vaclav Havel! Following his college years, Amro moved to NYC to pursue his dream. After submitting to a small audition notice in Back Stage, Amro had his big break. Despite having no agent, no manager and no union status, thanks to director Ed Zwick, Amro was cast and had his film debut as Tariq Husseini in The Siege opposite Denzel Washington, Annette Bening and Bruce Willis. Amro continued his acting studies with the wonderful Bill Esper at his studios in Manhattan. During his time in NYC, now that he had joined SAG, Amro booked roles on Law and Order as well as Third Watch and others. Following this success, Amro moved out to Hollywood and quickly found his type in demand. Booking Sleeper Cell, Modern Family, Suite Life on Deck and many other TV roles. Amro is a Chicago based actor, sharpening his skills on the Chicago and regional stages, as well as on TV! He can be seen as Habib on The Chi for Showtime! He is also Judge Thompson on Proven Innocent, episode "Accidental Losses" and has starred on Chicago PD and Shameless. Amro is looking to work on inspirational based projects on TV and in film.
