Mike Salamunovich was born in 1922 in Los Angeles, CA the son of Joseph and Pauline Salamunovich. He was the third of five siblings, John, George, Joseph Jr., and Paul Salamunovich. He was raised in Redondo Beach, California and attended Redondo Beach Union High School where he played football for the Seahawks. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served during World War II in the Pacific as a signalman aboard the USS Sea Snipe. After his discharge from the Navy, he married Patricia Barrett of Hollywood on August 7, 1948. The couple made their home in West Los Angeles and had five children. Mike enjoyed a remarkable career in film and television production as a Production Manager, Second Unit or Assistant Director and Producer on numerous film and television projects such as "South Pacific," "Sayonara," "The Brady Bunch," "The Odd Couple," "Wanted Dead or Alive," "The Rifleman" and "Room 222". Salamunovich finished his career on the show, "ER" where he won three DGA awards for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Dramatic Series in 1995, 1996 and 1997. He retired at the age of 80 in 2002 and and passed away in 2010 .
