Selga Sanders is originally from the rural Pine Barrens of coastal New Jersey. Her parents were born in Latvia, and her mother encouraged Selga to pursue her interest in the arts. She studied acting and enjoyed performing in the local theatre. After high school, Selga moved to South Florida, performing in the Palm Beach area, while obtaining degrees from Florida Tech, studying Oceanography and Engineering. She relocated to California where she launched into an engineering career in Submarine Warfare, engaged as technical writer for the operations and crew training of US Navy Seawolf Class submarines. Simultaneously, she continued to pursue her passion for the performing arts. Selga studied theatre at the Larry Moss Studios, writing numerous sketches and several one-woman shows during a decade-long tenure. She worked in numerous feature films, commercials and had several guest appearances on TV. Enjoying comedy, she performed with celebrated improv groups in Los Angeles, including the LA TheatreSports, Cold Tofu, Acme, and The Wild Bunch. For several years, she performed with the famed Second City at the world-renowned Improv. Expanding into production, Selga used her unique skill set to produce successful plays at the Edgemar Studios in Santa Monica, including Noel Coward's "Present Laughter" and the famous farce "A Flea in Her Ear" by Georges Feydeau. Continuing to utilize her writing skills, Selga is the co-writer and developer of three original TV sitcoms: "Bare Tales", "Fertile Ground" and "Got Karma?". She is a writer and member of the sketch comedy troupe, Sane Asylum. She is also a producer for the web series "Murder by Improv". Selga has an itch for pranks and anything purple. She is an avid animal activist, local urban Wildlife Committee Chairperson, and animal rescue volunteer. Selga resides on the shores of a thriving wildlife sanctuary and man-made lagoon in Venice, California.
