John Serpentelli has directed nearly100 short animated films for UNICEF, Sesame Street, HBO Family, Nickelodeon and Noggin. Serpentelli is currently an Associate Adjunct Professor at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Commissions include Chemical Heritage Foundation, Glaxo-Smith Kline, Annals of Internal Medicine and Viriva Credit Union. Serpentelli's independent films have won awards in festivals including The American Motion Picture Society, UNICA Festival (Warsaw) and the New York Expo of Short Film. Screenings include the New Museum of Contemporary Art (NYC), ZKM (museum in Germany), Tokyo International Festival, Amnesty International Festival (Amsterdam), and the American Cinematheque (L.A.). Serpentelli's has been in Variety, The New York Times, Animation Magazine, Moving Pictures Bulletin (London), ICOM magazine and he has been interviewed for the book " Your Career in Animation" by David Levy. Serpentelli founded an animation school for children, Animation Stewdio which ran until 2001. He has since taught animation to children at venues such as The Museum of Radio and Television in NYC, Amherst College, University of Pennsylvania and the Aspen Short Film Festival. Serpentelli was the focus of the feature length documentary, "Animating Autism' where he taught children with Autism how to make their own film.
