Gonçalo Portela is a Portuguese Actor and Writer He was born on August 22, 1975, in Lisbon, Portugal, the only child of his Portuguese parents - Cândida Rosa Osório, and Rogério Duarte Portela. Portela started in Amateur Theatre "Esteiros" in a small village near Lisbon called Alhandra, performing his first play called "A Forja" by Portuguese neo-realist writer Alves Redol. Attended Course on Training of Actors Theatre of the School of Theatre and Cinema in Lisbon, Portugal, and Scuola Internazionale dell'Attore Comico in Reggio Emilia, Italy. In Theatre worked with: Mario Rui Gonçalves, João Mota, Anna Paula, Gloria de Matos, José Peixoto, Álvaro Correia, Graça P. Corrêa, João Brites, Miguel Seabra, Antonio Fava, Pedro Alvarez Ossorio, Nuno Nunes, among others. He also played "Thisbe" in a Midsummer Night's Dream, Choreography by Hans Spoerli in National Ballet of Portugal. He directed the opera "Don Giovanni" with Orquestra do Norte with Maestro Ferreira Lobo. In Cinema worked with: Nicolau Breyer, Filipe Melo, João Leitão, Bruno de Almeida, José Nascimento, Fernando Fragata, among others. In television his first appearance was in 1997 in Julio Isidro program called "Antenas no ar" where he has played alongside Adelaide João, Margarida Carpinteiro, Carlos Quintas and Margarida Cardeal. Participated in several novels and series. As a Writer he was responsible for doing several stand up comedy texts/shows all over Portugal. He is also working in several cinema and series scripts about love, suspense and politic his favorite themes.
