Jodi Purdy-Quinlan began her career in 1981 in the Film & TV Industry when she was cast by Actor Cliff Robertson in "Charley 2" a sequel to the 1968 film that won him the Academy Award "Charley". In 1982 she joined AFTRA and began working on projects shooting in the Boston area, including "Spenser for Hire". In 1986, she was cast in the CBS Movie of the week, directed by Michael Miller "A Case of Deadly Force" starring Richard Crenna. She joined SAG and soon thereafter began working in Commercials, TV and Film in Boston and New York. Purdy-Quinlan also had a hand in casting working for Boston Casting Directors booking principals, day players and extras on projects shooting in New England. In 2002, she found the kid who would be cast in the role of a teenage killer in "Mystic River", in addition, she cast all the child extras in the film and everyone in the riveting 1st Holy Communion scene. In 2006, she worked casting and wrangling 15,000 extras in such projects as "Stiffs" starring Danny Aiello; "Gone Baby Gone" directed by Ben Affleck and "The Game Plan" starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. In 2007 she cast 4,000 extras in "The Pink Panther 2", "What Doesn't Kill You" and "Maiden Heist" all over a period of 4 months. In 2008, she cast 2,000 extras in "Bride Wars" and worked on a number of local commercials, t.v. shows and the "Edge of Darkness". In 2009 she opened South Shore Casting and a 3,000 s.f. studio for the performing arts. Over the next two years she cast hundreds of locals in Indy projects such as "Oxy-Morons", "The Fixer", "Beyond Control", "Stripped", "The Rude, the Mad, and the Funny". In 2011 she was hired to wrangle 11,000 extras in the Kevin James film "Here Comes the Boom". In 2012, she was hired as the Location Scout and Location Manager for the Laika Pictures Animated Feature Film "ParaNorman" which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film In 2013, she was hired to cast 90 actors for a Norwegian Talk Show "Ylvis Tonight" and ended up the Unit Production Manager handling all the pre-production and production details for the Director in Norway and Producer in LA. The result was a music video for their song "Massachusetts" which has had over 14 million views on YouTube. Beginning in 2014, she expanded her horizons and began casting extras in Independent Films in NYC. These included "The Sounding", "Joao Maestro", "Confetti", "June", "The Inside Game" and "The Man in the Woods". In 2016 she assisted with recruiting extras for "Patriot's Day" and was one of the extras casting directors on "Stronger" for Boston Casting. In 2018, she was the lead extras casting director for Boston Casting on Darius Marders feature film "Sound of Metal" which was nominated for an Artios Award by the Casting Society of America. She then jumped to help cast extras in Season One of the Netflix original series "The Society" for Boston Casting. In 2019 she cast the principal actors in the Travel Channels "Haunted Salem Live" and was hired as the Boston Production Manager and boots on the ground fixer. Her last project prior to Covid-19 was Disney+ movie "GodMothered" where she helped cast 300 extras for the Parade scene in February 2020. Purdy-Quinlan is currently (2021) waiting to see what Covid-19 is going to do by staying home and staying safe and hoping production opportunities will open back up in New England and New York. #StaySafe #Prayersfor500000
