Executive producer, co-producer, distributor based in São Paulo, Brazil. Senior consultant and CFO at Ventre Studio (2019- ), an independent studio focused on creating and developing quality and relevant projects in various formats: original series, feature films, documentaries, digital content, books, podcasts, branded content, talk and reality shows, and games, equipped to develop, fund, produce and distribute premium content to different countries. Started his career in the audiovisual sector as the head executive producer for VideoFilmes, a Brazilian production company owned by Walter and João Moreira Salles, from 1997 thru 2012. There, he played an important role in fictional and documentary films of the country's cinema during this period, many of which being selected/awarded in the major international film festivals, such as Oscar-nominees "City of God" (2002) and "Central Station" (1998). Among his other features are "A Morte de Quincas Berro D'Água" (2010),"O Céu de Suely" (2006), "Cidade Baixa" (2005), "Lavoura Arcaica" (2001) and "Abril Despedaçado" (2001). In documentaries, his partnerships with João Moreira Salles, Eduardo Coutinho and Nelson Pereira dos Santos produced works like "Santiago" (2007), "Entreatos" (2004) and "Futebol" (1997), with the first, "Moscou" (2009, "Edifício Master" (2002) and "Babilônia 2000" (2001), with the second, and "A Música Segundo Tom Jobim (2011) and "Casa Grande e Senzala" (2001), with the latter. Since 2012, he has shifted towards investment, advisory and institutional roles, such as board member of Circuito Espaço Cinema (2012-2013), which operates 38 movie theaters in 7 locations in four different states (São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul) and committee member of the Federal Government's Audiovisual Sectorial Fund (2011-2014). Since 2014, he has served first as Economic Development Director (2015-2017), then as President (2017-2019) of SPCine, the city of Sao Paulo's entity which is chartered to co-invest in partnership with the private sector to enable development and production of films and audiovisual technology. During his tenures, he was responsible for implementing the city's Cinema Theaters Circuit, creating the São Paulo Film Commission and the streaming platform "SPCineplay", and drafting and boosting the Open Calls for financial resources for Cinema, Television, Internet, Games, among other audiovisual initiatives. Mauricio holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from PUC in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (1977).
