A combat photographer in the Pacific during World War II, Bill Teas was in the same unit as future director Russ Meyer, and Teas and Meyer filmed several U.S. Marine amphibious landings against Japanese forces, under heavy fire; several of their fellow combat photographers were killed during these operations. Meyer and Teas remained friends after the war, and Meyer used Teas in his first "nudie," which he named after him: Mr. Tease and His Playthings (1959).
