Marcus Thompson - Writer/Producer/Director From early beginnings as an assistant film editor at Granada Television, and many years as a picture and sound editor, Marcus Thompson has become a highly accomplished screenwriter, director and producer. His years of experience as a film editor proved to be an invaluable foundation on which to base his directorial career. He made a name for himself with award winning South Bank Shows and several BBC classics such as Michael Wood's In Search Of series. He began directing corporate films for French fashion house Marie Claire, Harrods and Honda, before a short period making music videos. Working for major record labels such as EMI, Chrysalis, Virgin and London Records, he directed videos for bands as diverse as Ocean Colour Scene, Jesus Jones and Runrig, Scotland's folk rock band. Following on from directing the cult TV comedy adventure series Adventures Beyond Belief (1988), He has produced and directed four feature films, Malevolence, Middleton's Changeling (1998), the musical film noir The Biggest Thing That Ever Hit Broadway Redux, and award winning, A Place to Stay (2003), the supernatural love story. Thompson's Shooting Bernarda, an adaptation of Lorca's masterpiece, is slated for autumn 2023 in Andalucia, Spain. He has recently delivered the screenplay William the Conqueror to Regal Entertainment and prior to that Betsy And The Emperor, which he was commissioned to rewrite by New York based GC Corp/Killer Films. Through London based Hollywood Daze Motion Pictures, Thompson is in final stages of post-production on a feature length dramatized documentary on the life and work of veteran actor Earl Cameron CBE. Feature films in development include a Californian teenage road movie entitled Tell Me Why I don't Like Mondays, The Hairdresser's Apprentice, a period drama set in the golden age of coiffure, and Townsville a psychological thriller also written by Thompson, set in Northern Queensland, Australia and slated for production in summer 2024. Thompson's short film 'Wisteria Cottage' won Best Short Award 2021 Prague International Indie Film Festival.
