Vasil Dimitrov Tsonev , known by his alias Don Basilio , was a Bulgarian writer and screenwriter , author of humorous and satirical works. He had also a film roles. His brother is actor Kosta Tsonev . Between 1941 and 1945 Vasil Tsonev studied at the Military Academy, and then graduated in architecture (1945-1953). He had worked in his specialty in 1950-51 as a senior manager in the construction of the new city Dimitrovgrad. Since 1959 till 1968 he was editor of the newspaper "Hornet" . From 1968 to 1976 he was a freelance artist. Then he was invited as an observer to the leadership of the Bulgarian National Television . Vasil Tsonev is an author of over 2500 humorous stories and feuilletons; he cooperated with the press, radio, television and cinematography. He wrote scenarios for 20 radio plays , 25 animated films and six feature films. As an actor he had taken participation in four feature films. Vasil Tsonev died on July 11, 2002. On November 9, a plaque in his honor was placed on the "Villa Suite" to Weeping Garden Palace in Balchik , where was scattered his ashes. The bas-relief is the work of sculptor Rashidov .
