Stratos Tzitzis was born in Veroia, a small town in the North of Greece. He studied Finance and Politics at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) and Film Directing at the Stavrakos Film School. After graduating, he worked as assistant director and directed three short films, winning the first prize at the Thessaloniki Film Festival 1991 for "Enos Leptou Sigi" ("A Moment's Silence"). He then went on to direct the TV film "Kerees" /"Antenae" (1995) and the features "Love is an Elephant" (2000) and "Save Me" (2001), which won the "best actress state prize" for it's leading actress Maria Zorba. He moved to Berlin in 2004, where he worked on theoretical writings. Returned to Athens in 2009 for his third feature "45m2" (2010). He, then, wrote and directed his first theatrical play "Ashes" which played in the theater Olvio, in Athens, 2012-13. This play turned by him into a script and became his fourth film, completed in the beginning of 2016. In 2018 he completed his first English-speaking feature "Night Out", a comedy about Berlin's crazy night life.
