Mogens Vemmer is one of the most respected men of Danish television. After working for Danmarks Radio since 1961 he became head of the children and youth department in 1968, a position he held until 2000. In that period he helped establish DR and Denmark's reputation as a leader in entertaining and educational television for children. Besides from having an overall responsibility for the productions of that period he has several credits for his work before and after that time, including the feature Street Without End (1963) for which he won the prestigious Bodil Award for Best Film.
