Jean-Pierre Talbot, the only son of a businessman from Spa,in Belgium, was discovered by a talent scout on August 15th 1960. At the time, the teen-ager was the assistant sports instructor of a holiday camp named "Groupe des Dauphins" (Dolphin Group) in Ostend. Jean-Pierre, who knew Hergé's universe like the back of his hand, effortlessly became the famous fearless journalist Tintin in two films, Tintin et le mystère de la Toison d'Or (1961) and Tintin et les oranges bleues (1964). His mission accomplished, Jean-Pierre Talbot did not go on acting. He became what he had always wanted to be, a teacher.
