Altenir Silva was born in Paranavaí, Brazil. Great-grandson of German-Jewish and Portuguese, he began his film studies in 1983 at Cinemateca of Curitiba, Brazil. The same year he wrote and directed the short film "The Flying Filmmaker" among several other short films. In 2019, he won the Best Screenplay at Prisma International Film Awards in Rome, Italy, with The Sunrise Man (co-written with Ben Fiore, based on a story by director Werner Schumann). This screenplay was also nominated Top Finalist, 2017, Hollywood Hills Screenplay Awards. Altenir studied Master Class Story with John Truby (New York), Ten Minute Play Workshop with Jen Whiting (Princeton University, US) and Story under Robert Mckee (Sao Paulo, Brazil). Graduated in 2016, (B.A.) English Language and Education, at Estácio University (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). In 2017 his short-play "Friendship" is part of the book "One Minute Plays: A Practical Guide to Tiny Theatre" edited by Steve Ansell and Rose Burnett Bonczek; Publisher: Routledge; UK. In 2014 Silva received the "Award of Excellence" by Shakespeare at The Burg Theatre Festival (Middleburg, USA) for his play "The Idea". Silva is the author of several international short plays like, "Life, Love, Lost", 2011 (staged at The Viaduct Theatre, Halifax, UK); "The Fall Of Narcissus", 2011 (staged at the Hit & Run 5 - at Blue Door Theatre, Spokane, WA- USA); "Before The Dinner", 2012 (staged at The Viaduct Theatre, Halifax, UK) and "Friendship", 2015 (staged at Theater of Brooklyn College, NYC-USA); "She Loves Pepsi... He Drinks Coca-Cola..." 2016 (staged at Theater of Brooklyn College, NYC-USA; "The Tea", 2016 (staged at Trap Door Theatre, Chicago, IL, USA; He also wrote the international radio dramas "She Loves Pepsi... He Drinks Coca-Cola..." (broadcasted in July 8, 2012 on KYRS 92.3 FM/88.1 FM, Spokane, WA - USA,) and "Before The Dinner" (broadcasted in December 29, 2013 on KYRS 92.3 FM/88.1 FM in Spokane, WA - USA). Silva also wrote the feature films "O Sal da Terra" (2008), "Curitiba Zero Grau" (2010) and Moses and The Ten Commandments", The Movie" (2016). At Record TV Network as a TV Series writer. He wrote "The Slave Isaura" (2004), Prof of Love (2005), "Ways of the Heart" (2007), "The Mutants" (2008), "Esther, The Queen" (2010), "King David" (2013), Joseph from Egypt (2013) and "Moses and The Ten Commandments" (2015). In 1996 he was hired by the TV Globo Network (the most important network in Brazil) to work as a screenwriter for several TV shows like "Voce Decide", "Sai de Baixo", "A Turma do Didi", "Video Show" among others". From 1993 to 1996 he worked for CNT TV Network as a screenwriter and created and wrote the TV series "Pista Dupla" (Two Way Road). In 1986 he won the award for the best screenplay with the script "Impasse Social" at Rio Cine Festival in Brazil. Altenir and Celia are married and parents of Neo Rodrigues Kurpiel Silva.
