Rick Alexander

Rick Alexander -- Founder, President, and CEO of Alexander Content -- is currently a Producer of the independently financed science fiction thriller, "Talos" (the in development second feature from emerging UK writer-director Adam Hamdy), and also developing a slate of film and television projects based on popular titles from a host of internationally acclaimed comic book creators that includes Colleen Doran, Matt Fraction, Warren Ellis, Howard Chaykin, and Kurt Busiek. With a successful track record setting up branded properties such as Robert E. Howard's "Conan, The Barbarian" (Warner Brothers), Image Comics' "Noble Causes" (SciFi Channel), Mad Yak Press' "Subatomic" (MGM), Marvel Comics' "Cloak And Dagger" (Dimension), Malibu Comics' "Power & Glory" (Disney), and a remake of '70s "blaxploitation" classic "Dolemite" (New Line), Alexander counts himself fortunate to have worked on film and television projects with The Wachowskis, Robert Rodriguez, Steven Soderbergh, John Milius, Rudy Ray Moore, Darren Lynn Bousman, Billy Ray, Leslie Bohem, Howard A. Rodman, Stephen Metcalfe, Robbie Fox, Jonathan Gems, Mark Moss, John Masius, Nick Castle, Lorenzo Semple, Jr., Alan McElroy, John Fasano, Ian Abrams, Blake Snyder, Ken Nolan, John Herzfeld, Brandon Camp & Mike Thompson, Peter Speakman & Michael M. B. Galvin, Boaz Yakin, Alex Litvak, Oliver Butcher & Stephen Cornwell, Tim Miller, Zach Braff, Thomas Dean Donnelly & Joshua Oppenheimer, and acclaimed playwright John Steppling. Also a working screenwriter, Alexander's assignments have included reimaginings of "Dressed to Kill" for MGM and "The Persuaders!" for Canal Plus, and comic book adaptations for screens both large and small. At present, he is writing an original horror film for acclaimed director, Timur Bekmambetov, that sold to Sony based on Alexander's pitch. While a writer-producer on Sony's hit Lifetime Television drama, "Strong Medicine," Alexander was nominated for numerous awards, and received The Media Project's Shine Award for "Best Drama Episode," a Prism Commendation from the Entertainment Industries Council "for outstanding efforts in the accurate depiction of drug, alcohol and tobacco use and addiction," two Edge Awards for work that serves to "decrease gun violence," and a Gracie Award from the Foundation of American Women in Radio and Television. A native New Yorker and a graduate of USC, Alexander began his entertainment industry career in television development at Aaron Spelling Productions, and worked subsequently in theatrical distribution for Columbia Pictures, as a story analyst for TriStar Pictures, as an agent trainee at boutique literary agency Broder, Kurland, Webb, Uffner, and as an executive at Adelson Entertainment and its predecessor, Adelson-Baumgarten Productions, where he was involved in the development and production of multiple television projects and feature films. Alexander is a member of the Television Academy, and has served on the Board of Directors of The Actors' Gang. Alexander currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife, writer-director Valerie Alexander, and their rescued German Shepherd Dog, Vegas. In his almost nonexistent spare time, Alexander -- a console videogame enthusiast of negligible skill, and member of Hollywood-based gamer collective, Nerd Poker -- can be found futilely respawning on both XBL and PSN.
