Born in the Maritimes, Danny Gallivan became the voice of the Montreal Canadians in the early fifties on radio & then later on television. With Dick Irvan as his colour commentator, he was featured almost every Saturday on "Hockey Night in Canada". During Montreal's worst blizzard in the early seventies, he was one of the few people to make it downtown to the forum for a hockey telecast. He had walked from his home in the suburbs. The game itself was cancelled. At the time of his death he was retired from broadcasting.
