Bob Baldwin's work encompasses several genres. His career is also noteworthy for his collaborations with other artists as diverse as Rik Mayall, Steven Berkoff and Stewart Copeland. After graduating from the Royal College of Art Bob started his film career with Jim Henson and his Muppets and worked on the fantasy feature film 'The Dark Crystal' and 'Greystoke the legend of Tarzan.' He went on to design dozens of Pop Promos and Commercials for high profile clients including The Guardian, Duran Duran, BT, Radio Rentals and Hamlet. He also founded 'Heaven and the Victorians' fringe theatre company. Bob devised, produced and directed award winning shows including Horse Opera with music by Stewart Copeland for Ch 4. Horse Opera was nominated and featured at the E.M.M.Y. awards for; Television with Creative Daring and Innovation; and nominated for a M.E.D.E.M award amongst others. The story, weirdly prescient, was of a wealthy self aggrandising showman using populist rhetoric to bully and plunder to further his own egomaniacal ambition. Entwining as it did issues of casual racism, terrorism and rampant capitalism it has all become a bit familiar. Speaking recently Bob said 'its amazing that we got it made at all, but the resonance with what is going on in Trump-land now is so uncanny and the story so strangely pre-emptive and has never been more pertinent..." Bob also devised (along with Rikki Finegold) and directed two series of Grim Tales told by Rik Mayall which garnered first prize for 'Mixed live Action and Animation' in the Chicago International Festival of Children's Film, Best Animated Short Subject award' at the Television Movie awards, Mount Freedom New Jersey and voted 'Outstanding Folk Tale Adaptation' at the Chicago Festival Of Children Films. The second series culminated in a major exhibition at the Museum of Moving Image (M.O.M.I.) London. Bob devised and directed the Channel 4 Christmas Eve special 'Silent Night' with Steven Berkoff - adapted from Berkoff's play 'Harry's Christmas.' He also filmed Steven's stage presentations of 'East' and 'Corolanus'. Bob then returned to dark twisted comedy in 'Tales Of Uplift And Moral Improvement' starring Rik Mayall, a series of 13 films for the BBC. As a writer Bob has contributed to various magazines including Design UK, Cosmopolitan magazine, Ideas Japan, Art UK, Die Inachitecture, Germany.
