Amanda Witman (5/1/1973) grew up in Andover, Massachusetts, attended public schools, and later received a degree from Macalester College (1995). As a child, she was a member of Josie Walker's celebrated children's variety group, "Jellybeans," and performed in numerous musicals with the Andover Community Theater (later Andover Theater Company) and at Andover High School, as a supernumerary with the Minnesota Opera, and once as the last-minute replacement for the German teacher in a Finnish-speaking production of Little Women. As a teen, Amanda was an extra in the feature film "Field of Dreams" and one episode of the TV show "Spenser: For Hire" as well as having a speaking role in HBO's "Lip Service" before her dream of becoming a TV/film actress was cut short when her otherwise delightfully old-fashioned parents refused to get a newfangled telephone answering machine and the casting companies stopped calling. After a period of mourning, she moved on to other interests but never gave up her passion for performing. She reinvented herself as a folk musician in the early 2000s and co-founded a highly successful pub sing in Brattleboro, Vermont with English folk revival master singer Tony Barrand. Amanda lives with her four children in Brattleboro, Vermont. She holds out hope that she will one day be cast as Miss Hannigan in the musical Annie.
