David R. Zera, "Dave Z" to his friends, grew up in New Jersey and shortly after graduation from high school began serving in the Army. Dave was eventually stationed with the U.S. Army's oldest and most prestigious infantry unit, the 3rd Infantry Division "The Old Guard". Official escorts to the President of the United States. While stationed in our nation's capital Dave took up photography while performing such duties as full honor military funerals in famous Arlington National Cemetery, infantry training as well as civil defense exercises in and around Washington D.C. After serving under former presidents Ronald Reagan and George Bush Sr. and receiving his second Honorable Discharge following Desert Storm, Dave took his unbelievable experiences and hit the ground running. He headed west. After arriving in California in 1992, Dave settled in Santa Monica and later the SFV. After working for a few years at Hollywood Camera Inc. ( a motion picture camera rental company) Dave finally entered the cameraman's union in 1994 as a second assistant cameraman on a television show. After a few network shows Dave decided features and commercials were the place to be so he started as a swing man at a small studio in Hollywood working on commercials in several capacities. While writing personal projects and working on dozens of movies and as many commercials and as possible, (over 200 at this point), Dave began Rip-Tide Entertainment/Z Entertainment Inc. and his directing career. After a some success in a film festival Dave continues work and looks forward to his next project.
