Sherman Raskin was born in the Bronx on January 27, 1937. He earned his BFA in acting and MA in English from Columbia University. During his acting career, he appeared in Take a Giant Step (1959), Ride with Terror (1963), and The Tiger Makes Out (1967). Raskin was a professor of English at Pace University for over 50 years, retiring in 2018. During his tenure at Pace, Raskin was chair of the English Department for 24 years. In addition, he founded and served as long-time director of Pace's MS in Publishing program. He also was instrumental in the creation of Pace University Press.
