Megan Cunningham is the Founder and Principal of Magnet Media, the leading educational media company serving the entertainment industry. She began her documentary career producing independent documentaries to promote social change. In 1993, she co-produced an educational video that was distributed nationwide to health centers, and nominated for a Student Emmy Award. When she moved to New York in 1995, she worked up the ranks in cable and public television as an Assistant Editor and Associate Producer on several projects for cable and public television, including Nickelodeon, PBS/WNET, PBS/WGBH and MTV. In 1997, she became the second employee as the Senior Editor at systems integrator Virtual Media. There she worked closely with VM company founder, Scott Greenberg, who was formerly the VP of North American Sales at pre-IPO entertainment technology provider, Avid Technology. While at Virtual Media, Cunningham served as post-production consultant on numerous productions (including clients as diverse as Time Warner, Woody Allen, and MTV) while helping to grow the start up to a $20MM company in 2 years. In 2000, she left Virtual Media as the Director of Business Development to start Magnet Media. The company's first training product was supported by Apple Computer, and Magnet Media has been Apple's key training product provider ever since. Ms. Cunningham has taught seminars, workshops and panels at industry events, including: The Wharton School of Business' Entrepreneurs Conference, DV Expo, the Independent Feature Market, and the National Association of Broadcaster's convention (NAB). She served on the Board of Directors of New York Women in Film and Television, and is a graduate of Swarthmore College. Her first book, The Art of the Documentary features interviews with Al Maysles, Ken Burns, Errol Morris, DA Pennebaker and others; it was recently published by Peachpit Press/New Riders, a division of Pearson Publishing.
