Jennifer Schwerin is an award-winning filmmaker (director, writer, producer) working in both North America and China. In the USA, Jen made documentary films for HBO and PBS and was nominated for an Emmy award for her short fiction video work. In China for the past 20+ years, Jen created the first mainland Chinese short films for MTV Asia in the mid-90's and was the Executive Producer and Creative Director of Encore International working closely with China Central Television. Taking her expertise in short-format, highly creative content, she founded TaDaa! Media and Films in Beijing in 2007 as a platform to create feature films, episodic dramas, branded entertainment and digital content for trans-media platforms for China and the world. Her most recent short film, Unspoken Code (2018) won Best Short Film at Female Eye Film Festival in Toronto, Best Narrative at California Int'l Film Festival and Best Drama at Beijing Indie Short Film Festival. In recent years, she has written several feature screenplays, been in the writer's room of a Chinese sitcom web series, and directed numerous short fiction works in Mandarin and English. Her feature film project "Delicious" was selected as a finalist for the First China-Canada Gateway Co-Production Screenplay Competition held at the Whistler International Film Festival (2012) and will be produced as China-Canada co-production. Other Mandarin language/China market films that she has written are in development. Jen is now turning her attention back to the US with TV series and films in the works. Jen grew up in NYC with her photographer mother, her entrepreneur father, and her two sisters, both filmmakers. She graduated with a degree in fine art from Yale University and studied film production at NYU. She is based in Beijing.
