Tana Umaga

Tana hails from the working class suburb of Wainuiomata, Wellington, NZ. Originally he played Rugby League but switched to Union in his late teens. This switch of codes proved wise as time would show, at one time Tana was a memeber of the most potenet attacking force in World rugby with himself and Jonah Lomu on the wings and Christian Cullen at full back. At the age of 29 (2002), Tana has switched from the wing to the poistion of centre where he continues to be a handful for the opposition defence. Tana is contracted to the Wellington rugby union to 2004, so in the coming two years we hope to see many more devestating runs and big hits from the Samoan assasin (and hopefully he will find some glory in the black jersey of New Zealand).
