Born in Trieste (Italy) in 1978. He is a member of the Slovenian ethnic minority that lives in Italy. Enrolled the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television in Lubiana (AGRFT) in Slovenia in 1998 and graduated in 2004. In 2000 he made his first film, the documentary short film Twice A Week. Worked as assistant director on several full-length feature films, including Danis Tanovic's No Man's Land (2nd AD), Ljubljana, the Beloved by Matjaz Klopcic and Installation of Love by Maja Weiss (both 1st AD). His diploma work, short film Izlet (The Excursion), won several international awards (Montpellier, Bologna, Wiesbaden). His professional debut film Rezina zivljenja (A Slice of Life) was presented at several international film festivals (Edinburgh, Angers, Huesca, Valencia, Bristol, Montpellier...) and won the prize for the best Slovenian short film at the festival of Slovenian film 2006. His short film Vsakdan ni vsak dan (Every Day Is Not The Same) was selected for the Quinzaine des Realizateurs in Cannes and was screened on more than 20 international film festivals. In 2009 was selected for the 18th session of the Cannes's Cinefondation Residence with his feature project Feed Me With Your Words.
