Nelson Denis wrote and directed the feature film "Vote For Me!" which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. In 2018, he completed his second feature film "Make America Great Again." His feature-length screenplays received awards from the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and the New York State Foundation for the Arts (NYSCA). Nelson was the editorial director of El Diario/La Prensa, the largest Spanish-language newspaper in New York City. At El Diario, he published over 300 editorials and received the "Best Editorial Writing Award" from the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. In 2015, he published the book "War Against All Puerto Ricans" (Nation Books, 2015), an in-depth study of the Puerto Rican revolution of October 1950. It was an Amazon #1 Best Seller for four years, and the top-selling book in Puerto Rico during 2015-2016. A graduate of Harvard University and Yale Law School, Nelson also served as a State Assemblyman, representing East Harlem in the New York state legislature. (the 68th Assembly District)
