Penny Allen is a writer and film director who began her film career in Portland, Oregon. She moved to Paris, France, in 1991, where she worked on environmental issues until 2001. She also did translations from French to English during that period and is known for her translation of "The living Unknown Soldier" (2004, Metropolitan Books, New York). She resumed her movie career in Paris in 2004.
