Beginning his filmmaking career at age 8, Scott Barrett has worked professionally in almost every major position in the industry. At 21, he and fellow film school alumni, Mark Glover Masterson, began a film production company in Vancouver, Canada. Here, the pair made numerous commercials and short films. Besides directing, Scott also served as editor on all their projects. On the television series, Electric Playground (1997), he co-wrote, directed, co-edited, performed special effects editing and segment production from the pilot through until the third season. It remains on the air today having expanded on its original run in over 30 markets in two countries. At the season's end he was brought to California by Shiny Entertainment to do extensive work on Enter the Matrix (2003) in writing, directing and editing. He wrote 240 pages of script and directed the Matrix cast through the motion capture, bringing the pages to life. His official credit for this work was 'special thanks'. After the completion of those duties on the Matrix project he returned to Canada to edit an independent feature Awake (2005). Upon his return to the U.S., he took a contract with Gentle Giant Studios to document and participate in the creation of special effects for such films as Harry Potter 3 and Star Wars: Episode 3, and later a contract with NBC where his commercial editing numbers into the 100s. Currently CEO of the production company, Black Powder Pictures, he is in preproduction stages of his feature directorial debut.
