Jon Dunham has been a director, cinematographer and editor of films for two decades. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California's prestigious School of Cinematic Arts and the recipient of numerous filmmaking honors. His first documentary, "No Distance Too Far", co-produced with Top Value Television pioneer Megan Williams, chronicled the journey of four AIDS survivors as they took part in a seven-day cycling event from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise awareness and funds for AIDS service organizations. The production, which included 3,000 cycling participants and nearly 600 miles of California's coast and central valley was a logistical challenge and previewed the epic subjects and personal human stories as the filmmaking style that has become a hallmark of Jon's work. Teamed with three-time Academy Award winner Mark Jonathan Harris as Executive Producer, Jon's latest directorial triumph, the long awaited "Spirit of the Marathon" took five years to complete and was filmed across North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. Tracing the progression of six individuals from different parts of the world as they prepare for and ultimately converge in Chicago to take part in one of the world's largest marathons, the film was a monumental undertaking and the production utilized 30 high definition cameras to capture the spectacle of 40,000 runners covering the 26.2 mile distance. "Spirit of the Marathon" premiered to sold-out crowds at the 2007 Chicago International Film Festival, where it won the coveted Audience Award. In January 2008 after its release in more than 500 theatres across the United States and Canada, it became the year's highest grossing documentary. As a cinematographer, Jon has lensed such films as "Tell Me Cuba" and the forthcoming films "There Was Once..." and "Wincatherine" about famed Keyan marathoner Catherine Ndereba. Jon is an avid lover of sports and is an accomplished cyclist and runner. He has competed in cross country mountain biking events around the globe and is a veteran of 26 marathons.
