Born on 3 April in 1966 in the village of Kalikapur in Begumganj, Noakhali, Bangladesh, Nurul Islam Bablu got his acting breakthrough in the film The Clay Bird (2002), directed by Tareque Masud]. The film was Bangladesh's first film to compete for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2002. For this film he won a National Film Awards in Best Child Artist (special) category in 2002.
