Award-winning journalist Jack Smith, the son of broadcast news pioneer Howard K. Smith, was born in Paris and raised in London and Washington. Following his military service, he joined ABC News in the 1970s and served as a reporter for "World News Tonight," "This Week With David Brinkley," and "Good Morning America." Over the years he also hosted programs for The Learning Channel and A & E. He won two Emmy Awards and a Peabody Award during his 26 year career in broadcasting. He headed the Jack Smith Media Group in California at the time of his death.
