Bo Johan Hultman was a Swedish film critic, writer, actor and in charge of the film selection at the Swedish National Television in the 1970's. He became interested in European and American underground and offbeat films. Hultman presented Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Werner Herzog, Herbert Achternbusch and Margarethe von Trotta and many other new wave and avant garde German filmmakers to the Swedish television audience. He wrote essays on Jonas Mekas, Kenneth Anger and Maya Deren and made art films in different formats available on TV. And he nurtured the memory of the horror classics by giving them new introductions and framing.
