Truman Macdonald Talley is the son of Truman H. Talley, who was nominated for the 1942 Academy Award for the short documentaries Soldiers of the Sky (1941) and Life of a Thoroughbred (1941). Talley is a graduate of the Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Massachusetts and Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey. He has his own book publishing imprint with St. Martin's Press in New York City and resides in Manhattan. His daughter is Melanie De Voe Talley Whatley.
