Garcia is one of the most exciting writer/directors from Mexico. In 2015 he released his feature film debut The Thin Yellow Line. The film starred actors Damian Alcazar and Joaquín Cosio and was produced by superstar director Guillermo del Toro. To date, The Thin Yellow Line has been screened at 72 film festivals and has won 34 international awards, including the Audience Award and the Special Jury Prize at the Guadalajara International Film Festival in 2015 and the Grand Newcomer Award at the Mannheim-Heidelberg FilmFest 2015. The film was released in Mexican theaters in July 2016. Currently, Garcia is preparing his third feature film Velvet, The Unspeakable Story of Julia Pastrana, a Mexico-US production. The film was announced in Variety Magazine as a "What's Next" feature. Water and Milk (2006), was his fifth short film and was an award winning project of the IMCINE Fifth National Short film Project Competition. Water and Milk was also awarded the National Screenplay Award by the Mexico's General Society of Writers (SOGEM). The short film was screened at 46 film festivals and won 22 international awards, including the Mayahuel at the Guadalajara International Film Festival and the Best Short film Award at Festival Internacional of Huelva, Spain. Recently, Garcia finished the direction of the rom-com Mexican remake of My Best Friend's Wedding for Sony Pictures. He is also developing the projects Fireheart and Velvet, The Unspeakable Story of Julia Pastrana.
