Biography

"If you fall off a horse, you get back up. I am not a quitter." Olivia Wilde began her career in television with roles in series like "The O.C." (2004–2005) and gained recognition as Dr. Remy "Thirteen" Hadley on "House" (2007–2012). Trained at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, she moved fluidly between indie films and studio projects, appearing in "Alpha Dog" (2006), "Tron: Legacy" (2010), "Drinking Buddies" (2013), and "Her" (2013). Her directorial debut, "Booksmart" (2019), earned critical acclaim for its sharp tone and inventive approach, receiving a nomination for the BAFTA Award for Best Original Screenplay. In 2022, she directed "Don’t Worry Darling", a psychological thriller that drew media attention for both its style and off-screen controversy. Often drawn to roles that blend irony, intelligence, and emotional restraint, Wilde has also been noted for her commentary on the film industry, particularly around gender dynamics. As an actress and director, her work reflects evolving female agency in Hollywood. She received the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature for Booksmart, signaling her emergence as a director with industry impact.
