Born in Rome, daughter of Neapolitan magistrates. As a teenager she was part of a competitive artistic gymnastics team, and it was here, after completing her classical studies at the Liceo Mamiani in Rome, that a film producer noticed her during an audition. Thus, she gradually moved towards acting, until she made her screen debut in the third season of Distretto di polizia (2000) (2002), where she is Sabina, the sister of Giulia Corsi (Claudia Pandolfi), a role she also played in the following two seasons. The following year, she played the role of Ilaria in Remember Me, My Love (2003), a film by Gabriele Muccino. In 2004, she starred in the miniseries A Judge of Honor (2004), directed by Gianluca Maria Tavarelli, where she played the role of Lucia Borsellino. From 2005 to 2008 she was Francesca De Biase in Crime Evidence (2005). In 2006 she was also on the set of the TV series Il vizio dell'amore (2006) where she appeared in the episode Il vicino (2006), as well as in the TV drama Vientos de agua (2006) where she played the role of Gemma. In 2007 she returned to the big screen with the role of Francesca in the thriller The Girl by the Lake (2007), debut film by Andrea Molaioli, together with Toni Servillo and Valeria Golino. In 2008 she participated in the television miniseries Aldo Moro - Il presidente (2008), in the role of Anna Laura Braghetti. From 2009 to 2016, she starred in the TV series Squadra antimafia - Palermo oggi (2009), in which she played the mobster Rosy Abate, which brought her to the peak of success and notoriety. She alternates between detective films and cinema. In 2009, she played Marika, the girlfriend of Checco Zalone in the film Cado dalle nubi (2009). In 2011 she participated in three movies: The Immature (2011), Hayfever (2010) and Horses (2011). In 2012 he was on the set of Outing - Fidanzati per sbaglio (2013), a film directed by Matteo Vicino. Also in 2012 she returned for the fourth time to the set of Squadra antimafia - Palermo oggi, again in the role of the mobster Rosy Abate. In November 2013, the actress declared that she would leave the drama after the sixth season. In 2014 she returned to film with Fasten Your Seatbelts (2014), directed by Ferzan Özpetek. In 2015, she played the lead role of Nina in Il bosco (2015), a horror/police miniseries. From January 22 of the same year, she appeared on the big screen with Ever Been to the Moon? (2015), and from June 18 with Torno indietro e cambio vita (2015). In 2016, he left Squadra Antimafia for good in the eighth season, to return unexpectedly as the absolute protagonist in the spin-off Rosy Abate: La Serie (2017), aired from November 12, 2017 to October 11, 2019, in which he acted alongside his sister Paola Michelini. Interviewed about the reasons for her reconsideration, Michelini stated that Rosy was a character that the public loved too much, and that professionally and humanly she had given her a lot; therefore, it was only fair to give her a continuation. Also in 2017, she is Bianca, Dr. Mari's Thursday patient, in the third and final season of In Treatment. In autumn 2019, she assumes for the last time the role of the Queen of Palermo in the second season of Rosy Abate: La Serie (2017). The actress, in the microphones of Verissimo, declares that her Rosy has already given everything, and that she feels tired, after 10 years, of playing her; now she wants to take a break or try her luck in new projects in the hope that people on the street will call her Giulia again and not Rosy.
