Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Guillermo Rodriguez has been writing short stories since he was ten. Eventually, playing with words got him into Princeton University where he studied Comparative Literature and learned some German. He was part of a one-time workshop in novel writing with Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Toni Morrison. Law was in the horizon. Instead, he flew to South Africa and decided to become a filmmaker. He has a master's degree in film production from the University of Southern California, where he edited two 35mm shorts titled Stone and Manuel and directed several projects on DV, three 16mm shorts and his award-winning 35mm thesis Playing. He went on to write and direct his debut feature film, The Shadows, which premiered at Outfest 2007 and is currently out on DVD. He has co-written two scripts currently in development, The Glad Game and Snow Child, and is in pre-production on his second feature, the horror film Baby.
