With a degree in Electronics, Mac started his working career in the West End as a Theatre Lighting Designer, being based for a time at the National theatre and the Royal Opera House. After designing the lighting for a number of West End musicals he moved into television and joined the BBC working on shows such as Top of The Pops, Blue Peter, The Two Ronnies and Eastenders. When Sky News started in November 1988 he joined them as a News and Features Lighting Cameraman. Mac left Sky in '96 and worked in Portugal for two years as the Director of Photography for a production company based in Lisbon making light entertainment, situation comedies and quiz shows. After returning to the UK, he has worked successfully as a Documentary Director of Photography working wherever the story takes him including less attractive countries such as Iraq and Sierra Leone but also working on the more higher profile projects such as 'Live 8' and DVD 'Bonus Features' for Motion Pictures.
