Gillian Duxbury was born in Preston, Lancashire in 1951. She worked in boutiques in Preston and also won the Miss Blackburn contest before attending modelling school in Manchester. She later moved to London to continue her modelling career with numerous appearances in newspapers, magazines and advertisements. She also featured in light entertainment TV shows as well as having small acting roles. In May 1980 she married Peter Glancy and that October gave birth to a son Ryan. She continued her modelling and TV career including appearing as a "dolly dealer" on the Bruce Forsyth game show "Play Your Cards Right" in 1982.
