Morten Schnell-Lauritzen

Morten Schnell-Lauritzen is a journalist, who graduated from the Danish School of Journalism in 1998. Most of his work afterwards has been done for Danmarks Radio, Denmark's state-owned media outlet. Morten began as a local reporter of Aarhus on DR's main news program TV Avisen in 1999, where he met his future wife Ellen Klarskov. He later moved to Copenhagen, where he helped to start DR's breakfast television show in 2001 and in summer of 2002 he jumped out to be a presenter on TV Avisen's noon and afternoon editions. Since 2004 he has been a permanent host of TV Avisen's main bulletins at 6.30pm and 9pm. In 2005, just after the birth of his first son, he was diagnosed with cancer in both pancreas and the throat, which according to his own words, was first noticed during a morning shave as a lump in the throat. In later phases, the other tumor in pancreas was noted and radiation treatment was started. After 33 times of the treatment, the tumors were no longer visible. In 2008 he was starting on DR Update as host and editor. Since 2010, he only hosts DR Update bulletins, not TV Avisen. He lives with wife and two little boys in Valby. He has been practicing exercise as an avid runner for 20 years and entered the Copenhagen Marathon in 2002.
