Her father, Chuck Fields, was also a very talented theater director. At an early age, Tamera tagged along with her father while he directed, studying his techniques. Tamera's film "Open Hearts, Inc." won the audience award at the Oakland International Film Festival in 2004. She received her MFA in screenwriting from American Film Institute (AFI) in 2009.
