Eric Ambel is a guitarist, songwriter and record producer living in Brooklyn, New York. Eric grew up in Batavia, IL and was an original member of notable bands Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, The Del-Lords and The Yayhoos. Ambel appeared with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts in the 1981 movie Urgh! A Music War and also Jett's 2018 biopic Bad Reputation. In addition to his work with his bands Ambel has released 4 studio albums and 1 live album as a solo artist. Ambel toured and recorded with Steve Earle between 2000 and 2005. Highlights include Amos Poe's film Just An American Boy in 2003 and the 2005 Grammy award winning Contemporary Folk Album "The Revolution Starts...Now". Ambel's lap steel guitar work on the Del-Lords recording of Scott Kempner's song "Feel Like Goin' Home" was selected by Robbie Robertson for inclusion in Martin Scorsese's 1986 film The Color Of Money. Since the early 90's Ambel has been producing records for bands and singer songwriters in the Americana genre. Artists that include Blue Mountain, The Bottle Rockets, Jimbo Mathus, Nils Lofgren, Marshall Crenshaw, Mojo Nixon and Sarah Borges. From 1996 to 2014 Ambel co-owned a popular East Village nightclub called the Lakeside Lounge with partner James Marshall. Eric Ambel's recording studio Cowboy Technical Services Recording rig has been in operation in Brooklyn since 1999 and is located in the Greenpoint neighborhood.
