Born and raised in eastern North Carolina. He attended the University of Southern California School of Cinema-Television and graduated with a B.A. in film production in 1997. He then began working for a Kodak-owned visual effects company based in Hollywood, California, named Cinesite. Over the course of five years, he eventually worked his way up within the post facility and became a visual effects digital editor working on high profile studio films.
