Daan Gielis

After studying Film, Daan architects an all-round career in the (inter)national film industry until her passion for screenwriting led to a spirited career move in 2011. After a few short films such as Gamechanger (2016, directed by Christian van Duuren, produced by BIND) that had its world premiere at SXSW in Austin, Texas, her first feature film La Holandesa (2017, directed by Marleen Jonkman, produced by Smarthouse Films) had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival of 2017 and the European premiere at Rotterdam's IFFR in 2018. Her second feature, with the same team, The Green-eyed Monster, is in pre-production and will be shot in Spring 2022 in Greece. In July 2021, the four-part miniseries Storm Lara that was created and written by Daan (directed by Kadir Ferati Balci, produced by A Private View), will be released on Belgian streaming platform Streamz.
