Aneel Ahmad is a writer, producer, director He was born and raised from a working class family, within the poverty stricken, inner city suburbs of Manchester Longsight (England UK) Ahmad is completely self-taught. He is a big fan of Stanley Kubrick, Sir David Lean, Satyajit Ray and documentary filmmaker Peter Watkins. Ahmad has also won critical acclaim and praise for his work from some of the TOP and biggest industry professionals such as Hollywood feature film directors Ridley Scott, Alan Parker, Mike Leigh, Stewart Till CBE Chairman of United International Pictures (King Kong) (UIP), Quentin Tarantino, Universal Pictures, Merchant Ivory Productions, Working Title Films, BBC films, FOX films, FILM4, and many more leading industry figures. Won the UNICEF award for his short film Waiting For Sunrise 2005. Waiting for Sunrise was also shortlisted for one of the film world's most distinguished awards - the Grierson Awards for documentary in 2006. the films entire budget was 2,500 pounds including his flight tickets and post production
